Getting to Keene

As you all know, getting to rural communities can be a burden. Below are a variety of planes, trains, and automobiles that will get you to Keene, NH. Availability, accessibility, and affordability vary. 

Boston Logan International Airport (BOS)

Driving from Boston Logan to Keene, NH takes approximately 2.5 hours. We recommend renting a car or checking out the carpool options in our Whova app (email instructions for carpooling will be sent out closer to the event date).

Bradley International Airport (BDL)

Driving from Hartford, CT to Keene, NH takes approximately 1.5 hours. We recommend renting a car or checking out the carpool options in our Whova app (email instructions for carpooling will be sent out closer to the event date), or taking the Amtrak to Brattleboro, VT.

Manchester-Boston Regional Airport (MHT)

Driving from Manchester, NH to Keene, NH takes approximately 1 hour. We recommend renting a car, checking out the carpool options in our Whova app (email instructions for carpooling will be sent out closer to the event date).

Amtrak Brattleboro, VT (BRA)

Driving from Brattleboro, VT to Keene, NH takes approximately 0.5 hours. If you are willing/able to walk, we recommend taking the Greyhound (a 20 minute walk from the Amtrak station) to Keene, NH. The Greyhound will drop you on Main St. in Keene.

Parking

We highly recommend that folks staying in downtown Keene walk to sessions. If that is not an option, you can use this interactive map to find paid city parking. There are also limited free parking options.

Food

Radically Rural provides light refreshments at sessions and dinner at the CONNECT Event on Wednesday evening. For all other meals, we encourage you to check out our local restaurants, many of which will offer a $15 lunch special for Radically Rural.

Packing List

  • Walking shoes
  • CONNECT attire (this can be as casual or as spiffy as you like!)
  • RR bag/t-shirt from prior years to use or turn in if you don’t think you’ll use them (waste reduction)
  • Water bottle (we will have water dispensers or fountains at every location, but no cups)
  • Movement/exercise clothes and shoes (if you plan to participate in morning activities like yoga or group run)
  • Business cards
  • Your pitch for the Solutions Slam!

Additional Activities

Make it a long weekend! There are a wide range of activities to do while in Keene from hiking to axe throwing! Some of our favorite trails are Cheshire Recreational Rail Trail, Ashuelot Rail Trail, Goose Pond Loop, and Mount Monadnock (the second most hiked mountain in the world!).
