Basel Musharbash
Managing Attorney at Basel PLLC
Policy and Entrepreneurship
Basel is the principal of Basel PLLC, a rural community development law firm based in Paris, Texas, and serves as Legal Counsel at Farm Action. His law practice focuses on helping rural governments, small businesses, and community banks work together to cultivate local power and community wealth. Inspired by the antimonopoly heritage of Northeast Texas (this is the home of Wright Patman, after all), Basel also leads his firm’s pro bono research and advocacy initiatives focused on reversing the growth of absentee ownership in rural economies and the consolidation of financial power in large, metro-headquartered banks. Basel’s previous experience includes plaintiff-side antitrust litigation and complex business transactions. His work on the impact of banking consolidation on rural communities has appeared in The American Prospect and The Daily Yonder, among other publications. He holds a J.D. from The George Washington University Law School and is licensed to practice law in Texas and DC. You can follow his work on Twitter @musharbash_b.
