Radically Rural biotech (RRb) is a national network of entrepreneurial support organizations (ESOs) and affiliate partners that support biotech entrepreneurs and businesses operating in rural areas – and they strive to attract them there, and grow them there too!
The RRb Founding Partners have set out to demonstrate that rural communities can be a vibrant part of the U.S. biotech sector. The network was formed to connect and share expertise, best practices, assets and resources with the aim of enabling rural communities to fully participate in the innovation economy. The result: growth and opportunities for rural areas.
“Prevailing culture, not facts, have kept biotech companies from exploring the advantages of rural communities. The Radically Rural biotech network can be at the forefront of overcoming that cultural norm and establishing a more geographically dispersed and inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystem for the U.S. biotech sector.” – Mary Ann Kristiansen, Founder of the Hannah Grimes Center for Entrepreneurship (HGC).
The creation of this network was made possible through funding from the Small Business Administration’s (SBA’s) Growth Accelerator Fund Competition (GAFC). Hannah Grimes Center for Entrepreneurship was a stage 1 and stage 2 winner in 2023. This funding has since been complimented by a Community Project Fund grant through the SBA, made possible by the sponsorship of NH Senator Jeanne Shaheen. This funding will allow us to continue our work to build both the Monadnock Region biotech sector and the RRb national network through 2027.
Each and every RRb Partner offers a range of experience from working within rural communities and supporting STEM focused businesses and entrepreneurs.
Join our network! In the upcoming year, we are looking to expand the network, including onboarding other key players in the entrepreneurial ecosystem such as investors and consultants. Want to know more? Watch our roundtable discussion
