Sarah Rocker

Researcher at Northeast Regional Center for Rural Development at Penn State

Keynote

Dr. Sarah Rocker is a postdoctoral researcher at the Northeast Regional Center for Rural Development at Penn State University in the Department of Agricultural Economics, Sociology, and Education. She holds a doctorate in Rural Sociology and a Master’s in Public Administration with a focus on domestic food systems policy. Sarah’s work focuses on entrepreneurial, place-based development through the lens of food systems. In particular, she researches and consults on agri-food ‘value chain’ coordination strategies that build capacity for small and mid-scale producers, processors and markets, and foster rural and urban connections. She is passionate about sharing information on the power of networks as a research practice and applied tool for building thriving community-based economies.
